Galatea, which means “with milk-white skin”, is named after the sea nymph described in Greek mythology. The apartment is accessed from the upper garden, which has terraces and various viewpoints and is shared with some of the other apartments.
A small entrance door beside the dome of the adjacent church of San Francesco leads into the apartment, which consists of:
- a very spacious scenic bedroom with a king size bed and a free-standing bath tub at the foot of the bed in an exceptional panoramic vantage point;
- a bathroom with a shower;
- a second double bedroom, the “alcove”, with a special king size bed and a view of the upper garden;
- a second bathroom with a large shower;
- a spacious living area with a fireplace and large windows looking onto the front terrace;
- a separate kitchen area.
All the rooms are air conditioned.
The first double bedroom and the living room both face west onto a large furnished level terrace, from where you could almost touch the sea that bathes the beautiful beach of San Francesco, framed by palm trees. The terrace has a pergola and is perfectly usable all the year round, to admire the beautiful sunsets and the outline of Ventotene Island on the horizon.
The apartment was completely renovated in the autumn of 2015 under the supervision of interior designer Giuliano Andrea dell’Uva. The renovation was aimed at restoring the original structure of the residence from the turn of the last century; where there was a single large room used as a bedroom by the previous English owner, subsequently modified during the restructuring in the 1980s, a single visual space has now been recreated, including the living room and bedroom area, which are separated by a large glazed partition.For the work, wide use was made of modern materials such as resin and special paints, together with traditional materials such as simple hand forged wrought iron and common glass, all used in harmony with items of design furniture.
What an amazingly beautiful restored apartment! Such a special place. Quiet and tranquil. Minutes to San Francisco beach, restaurants, and a short walk to Forio. My husband and I loved the stylish space and felt very fortunate to stay here. Rita made our stay even more incredible with her warm welcome and tons of helpful tips for us. She’s a star! We would absolutely return here.
this part of the island is Wonderful and less crowded. walking distance to the beautiful gardens and the amazing spa that is a MUST see. The airbnb is amazing! The view is stunning! We stayed in one night just to take advantage of the balcony and the sunset. I miss this place already. Ischia is a must visit place!! Forget Capri, Ischia does not disappoint!
We had the pleasure of staying at the Galatea apartment for four nights in May. The apartment is stunning and exceeded our expectations. We made a couple of dinners at the apartment and loved using the patio. We used the local bus system which worked out well and toured most of the island. The apartment is a five minute walk to the beach and approximately 20 minutes into the town of Forio. It was a pleasure dealing with Giuseppe who promptly answered any questions ahead of our trip and Rita who checked us in and was there for help during our stay.
The Eremo is an amazing historical building just outside Forio. The apartment is full of design details and has a wonderful terrace with a great view on the sea. During our stay everything worked fine, communication with was quick, check-in and check-out with Rita was nice and very friendly. Ideal for 3 persons but also for 4 is fine.
You can reach the beach 10 minutes walking downhill. (uphill to go back 🙂 There are good restaurants bars around: Nicola is a really good easy going place from breakfast to dinner. I would also recommend La Sciavica restaurant.
Giuseppe’s place was great! good walking up and down the neighborhood. like a 5 minute walk down to the beach and some restaurants. super market about 10 minute walk. steep hill to walk back to the apt. washer worked well. view was great while hang drying our clothes in the private deck area. manager on duty was very helpful.
The location and view are the strongest points for the property. We stayed here for 4 nights with outer two little kids and found that it was ideally situated for beach access - a 5 minute walk. The pictures were pretty accurate in showing most of the property. Note that the kitchen is very small. We did not use it much at all. Luckily there are many good restaurants around. We had a bit of sporadic connectivity issues with the wifi which were remedied relatively quickly by the host. The host was very responsive. Very quiet place, overall clean inside - we were quite happy with our stay.
We had a lovely stay at Eremo di Montevergine. The location is brilliant if you want to be near a beach - San Francesco beach is only a 10 minute walk & is unspoilt & not too touristy. There are some lovely little cafes and restaurants including da Nicola along the sea front.
There's a stunning view from Galatea of the sea, which you can see as soon as you open the door. The apartment is in a building that you reach through a private Gate & lovely gardens with cactus and pretty flowers.
The apartment is nice with good size bedrooms. And a freestanding bath in the bedroom which is unusual & luxurious.
There's a lovely terrace where you can look at the sea & watch the sun go down.
The only drawback is the kitchen which is tiny. It's difficult to cook in as its so small, and it needs to be a bit better equipped - we cooked on the 2nd night & we couldn't find a few things such as cheese grater, Chopping board, colander, wooden spoon & cafetière. The lady that managed the property was super helpful & helped us book a hire car. We asked for the kitchen equipment that was missing & she bought it the next day.
However the dishwasher was broken so we had to wash up.
There were no recycle bins which was a shame.
The apartment was a good size and the bedroom our daughter slept in was great for a child or a couple - the bed was actually more comfy than our bed which was pretty hard & could do with a mattress topper to make it a bit softer.
we didn't meet the owner but he was helpful before our stay when he Offered to organise a taxi to meet us from our boat.
It was a perfect location, close to beautiful gardens & thermal spas as well as the beach.
There were no pictures or decoration in the flat which made it feel quite monastic, so personally I feel like it could do with a few pictures on the walls, but we enjoyed our stay there apart from the hard bed! It was very clean and a quiet spot, with a stunning view and pretty gardens.
The place, the verandas, the view, the location, the hosts...all perfect. We stayed with our two girls (10 & 14) and had relaxing few days enjoying the very close San Francesco beach and restaurants. We only left the area once to try the world famous Poseidon mineral pools. The hosts were fantastic, helpful and accommodating.
We loved the place. We spent 3 days there with our 3-years old child and everything has been perfect. The apartment is nice and very quiet. 2 real bedrooms. Amazing view from the terrace (if you like to watch the sea and sunsets). Just a 3 minutes walk to the beach (on a little road used by the cars, that has to be mentioned even if we never felt unsafe walking there), there is a Mini-market a little further (5-10 minutes).
Francesca is responsive and helpful. Someone (Rita) picked us at the port when we arrived and really helped us throughout our stay (for example to rent a car) we could really contact her whenever we wanted.
As Forio is about 25 minutes away by walking, it may be useful to rent a car (it is possible to park it next to the apartment).
